A PCB is used to design the electrical circuits permanently using Copper conductive tracks, pads,etc.. PCB is a copper plate which has four layers the top and bottom layer is coated with copper and sandwiched in between with a substrate. After the conduction layers, there will be a non- conductive substrate layer. Components are placed on to the PCB board by drilling holes according to the circuit designed. Components will be soldered once it is fixed. This is done for reducing the loss and mechanically speed up them.

Alternatives to PCBs include wire wrap and point to point construction, both once popular but now rarely used. PCBs require additional design effort to lay out the circuit, but manufacturing and assembly can be automated. Specialized software is design using Eagle software, kind of CAD software. Mass-producing circuits with PCBs is cheaper and faster than with other wiring methods, as components are mounted and wired in one operation. Simultaneously a large number of PCB can be designed by using various techniques like UV technique,etc., PCBs can be made in very small size.

Multilayer PCB is used for higher component density because circuit traces on inner layers. Mostly Multilayer PCB are done with the Surface Mount Technology. However, multilayer PCBs make a repair, analysis, and field modification of circuits much more difficult and usually impractical..
