Ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04:
An ultrasonic sensor is a type of acoustic sensor divided into three board categories:
Transmitters convert an electrical signal into ultrasound, receivers convert ultrasound into electrical signals and Transceivers can both transmit and receive the signal.
Ultrasonic sensors used to detect the target by interpreting the reflected signals. This is done by measuring the time lapse between sending a signal and receiving an echo, the distance can be measured. The sensor has two opening in the front. One sends ultrasonic waves and the other one receives the ultrasound and gives output in the electrical form.
The speed of the sound is approximately 341meters(1100 feet) per second in air. The ultrasonic sensor uses this information along with the time difference between sending and receiving the signal pulse to determine the distance between an object.
Distance= Time * (Speed of sound/2)
Speed is divided by 2 because the sound travels twice.
